What is an XML Web Service?
(From <TAG>): "A web service is a service delivered over the Web" . If only it were that simple. There has been a lot written about the magic of web services. The information that you might have read will make you believe that if you just got your data into XML streams, web services would be easy, even automatic. Not so fast.
This article shows how a standardized representation of information creates a path leading to the implementation and exposure of web services. But is that enough?
Required Reading for Anyone in the Information Management Business
Review of Web Services Implementation Guide, Volume 1: Getting Started , by Brian E. Travis and Mae Ozkan. Arhcitag Press, 2002, ISBN: 0-9649602-3-0.
XSL Tutorial, Part 1: Background
(From <TAG>): This is the first of a multiple-part series on XSLT, a very important W3C standard that provides a way of transforming XML documents from one structure to another. XSLT can be used to create HTML, so your XML documents can be viewed in a Web browser, or XSLT can be used to transform your XML documents to any other XML structure, or even non-XML structures.
In this first part, you will learn about the background of XSL and why it was broken up into two standards, XSL and XSLT. In following months, I will go over the syntax of XSLT and how to use it in your applications.
BizTalk Tutorial, Part I: Jean and David: An E-Commerce Story
(From <TAG>): The marriage of XML and business-to-business ( B2B) commerce is a big topic these days. XML can be used as an open-standard, platform-independent way to communicate between companies. An XML document can be created using an interface system that translates business information into a deliverable format. Then, the XML document can be transported in many different ways over public or private networks to a business partner. An interface system interprets the XML document on the receiving end, where it goes through the business processes of the recipient company.
