Brian E. Travis, Chief Technical Officer

Brian Travis is Chief Technical Officer and Founder of Architag International Corporation, (http://www.architag.com) a consulting and training company based in Englewood, Colorado.

Brian is an expert in real-world XML implementations. Since founding Architag (then known as Information Architects) in 1993, he has created intelligent content management systems and e-business solutions for Architag clients around the world.

Brian is also a noted instructor and lecturer in XML and related standards. In his role as principal instructor for Architag University, he has been teaching clients about XML in the U.S., Europe, and Asia. Brian speaks and leads tutorials and seminars for the largest internet and e-commerce conferences in the world, including Internet World, Web Design and Development, TechEd, and Comdex.

His first book, The SGML Implementation Guide (Springer-Verlag, 1995, ISBN: 0-387-57730-0), was a real-world guide to implementing structured markup technologies. His second book, OmniMark At Work, Volume 1: Getting Started (SGML University Press, 1997, ISBN: 0-9649602-1-4) has been a valuable reference source for users of the OmniMark middle-tier scripting language. Brian recently completed XML and SOAP Programming for BizTalk Servers (Microsoft Press, 2000, ISBN: 0735611262). His next book, 1,001 Duck-bar Jokes is due to be published May 5, 2050.

Brian lives in United Airlines seat 2C, but he pays taxes in Colorado, where he is the only one in the neighborhood with a T1 line going to his La-Z-Boy.

His passion, however, is soaking in the spa, basking in the moonlight.
