| Description |
This course covers two important aspects required for successful FrameMaker+SGML applications. First, the element definition document (EDD) is discussed and demonstrated in depth. Then, the read/write rules are discussed and used.
In the hands-on workshop you create and modify an EDD for proper presentation of SGML information for on-screen, print, Adobe PDF and other formats. Topics include: validating an EDD, importing formats into a structured template, defining FrameMaker+SGML elements and attributes, specifying context-dependent format rules, specifying object format rules, using hierarchical styles to control document formatting, using inclusions and exclusions, defining automatic insertion of elements, defining prefix and suffix rules, creating format change lists, creating a read/write rules file, understanding the default translation for elements, attributes, entities, graphics, cross references and other Frame objects, renaming elements and their attributes or attribute values, mapping SGML elements to Frame objects, mapping elements to tables, mapping elements to graphics and equations, dropping Frame elements on translation to SGML, importing/exporting valid SGML, and dropping the content of Frame elements on export to SGML.
This course covers core FrameMaker formatting features needed for structure template design. |
